getting tanked

6/5/2020

I sent out my gas tank to have it boiled out and sealed.  On my last 356 I did this myself, and frankly it's just a nasty and time consuming job.
This time I sent it to a radiator shop, they did the cleaning and installed a nice coating of Red Kote to seal it all up and prevent rusting.  My task, now that I picked it up yesterday, is to complete the outside of the tank.  Lots of steps here:
  • Sand and surface prep the outside of the tank
  • Apply POR-15 as a base coat
  • While still slightly tacky, apply a coat of Rustoleum primer
  • Apply two coats of correct color light gray paint
  • Apply the nice original appearance tar mat (already purchased)
  • Install the tank and vent line
  • Install newly rebuilt fuel tank selector and control rod
  • Install the float
I guess it takes a while to get fully tanked!
