Our "New" bus

We have owned not only air-cooled PORSCHE cars, but also VW.  Back when we started raising a family, we needed more room than our 356 had, so we bought a 1971 Volkswagen Bus.
Now we need extra room for dogs, not kids!  Solution, a 1977 Volkswagen Bus- the year we got married!
I'll later change this website around to split the PORSCHE portion from the Volkswagen portion, but for now here is an introduction to Lucy, our new to us VW bus.
I looked for a few characteristics:
  • It had to have minimum rust.  This one is better than I personally have ever seen underneath.  It was originally blue, and looking underneath wherever the undercoating is peeling off, the shinny blue paint is showing.  No rust anywhere under floor mats or in the "dog legs" etc.  Only rust is in the back under the battery tray.
  • We wanted to buy a 7 seater transporter, not a camper type
  • Hoped to find it with a sunroof version
  • Running project was desired.
Got lucky and found all of the above!!  Towed her home because we found her from dry Eastern Washington and it would have been 300+ miles on an unknown engine.  She started life in San Bernardino, California- also a dry climate.  Originally blue, now a shade of green that the receipt for painting shows as "Hippy Green"
