...and then there is perfection....

There are reproduction pieces available to PORSCHE owners, some better than others.  Repro hood handles for 356's are actually pretty good.  But, when originality is important to you, and "pretty good" isn't what you are shooting for, there are only a couple of options.  For the hood handles, they were manufactured by Huf and they are easy to identify because the makers name and part number are cast right into the body.  Option one is to take an original, which I have, and get it re-chromed.  There are a couple of issues with getting this done, the first of which is cost.  Not cheap.  The second issue is that the main bar (the vertical part that touches the hood) is often pitted.  The pits can be removed, but that is time consuming, again running up the cost.
Second option, find one that not only is NOS, but one that has survived shelf life with no issues.  No pits, no stratches, NOS.
When you find it, well, sometimes price is not the issue.  I decided to bite on this one and very happy I did.  By the way, you see $70 written on the tag.  Let's just say I paid more than that!
