Back in November of 2020 (see Blog Archives to the right) I posted a Blog showing a fuel pump I would be installing below the passenger floorboard. I showed in that post the label on the fuel pump and also demonstrated the wireless switch that I was planning on using to turn the pump on and off. After some thought, I decided to toss out that fuel pump. I bought it many years ago for a different car, and I noticed the rating on the pump to be 5 - 8 lbs of pressure. That's too much!
A few weeks ago I bought a new AIRTEX fuel pump. It is 6 volts and rated for 2.5 - 4.5 PSI. Perfect for a 356. Info on the pump can be found here. The pump is now installed along with the wireless switch. It is nice and quiet and the wireless switch is working fine. I will be using this only to prime the carburetors when the car has been sitting for a few days or more. I'll prime the carbs and then switch it off so that normal operation is accomplished with the mechanical fuel pump.
