Since the fish-eyes were spread out over the entire car, it had to be sanded down. Not all the way to the primer, but the new green paint had to be sanded down to below the level of the fish-eyes.
Terrible task and expensive. New paint had to be purchased, and lots of time sanding on the car. Apparently it was easy to tell if the sanding went low enough, because when they sanded across the top of the fish-eye, the bright green paint stayed shinny while the surrounding area went dull. I was told it was like seeing a laser light shining up. So, they kept sanding until all those beacons of shinny green were gone.
New paint delivered to them yesterday, and the process begins anew. Compressor has new drip lines and new filters and new system to remove water. Also suspect was the new rubber air line used last time, so it got a good washout with solvent.
Hopefully we get some good results with this second effort.
